Best practiceGood practices in the use of alternative substances to Hydrochlorofluorocarbons
Mexico has demonstrated its leadership in the area of climate change by establishing synergies for the efficient use of energy and the protection of the ozone layer, as well as by fulfilling its commitments with the Montreal Protocol in a timely manner. As proof of this, in 2010 the consumption of chlorofluorocarbons (CFCs), substances used in refrigeration, air conditioning, aerosols and polyurethane foams, was totally eliminated in the country. That is why for the Ministry of the Environment and Natural Resources (SEMARNAT) and the National Polytechnic Institute (IPN) it is a priority to continue the policies and actions that contribute to mitigating and reducing the major global environmental problems that are climate change damage to the ozone layer. …
MemberNational Polytechnic Institute (IPN) of the United Mexican States
State educational institution created to consolidate, through education, the Economic, Scientific, Technological, Cultural and Political Independence to achieve the social progress of the Nation, in accordance with the Historical objectives of the Mexican Revolution, contained in the Political Constitution of the United Mexican States. The Escuela Superior de Ingeniería Mecánica y Eléctrica (ESIME) Azcapotzalco Unit, belongs to the Instituto Politécnico Nacional (IPN). It is located in Mexico City, it has forged thousands of engineers through the years and it is considered one of the strongest pillars of the IPN, participating in the industrial development of Mexico in a prominent way. This campus has approximately eight groups that are involved with refrigeration and air conditioning, each group consists of approximately 40 students. In the Laboratory of Thermal Machines of this institution, training is provided on refrigeration and air conditioning systems, internal combustion engines, thermal turbines, steam generators and thermal plants. The laboratory is made up of square and triangular duct installations, as well as ventilation systems, air conditioning and a refrigeration equipment for tests and failures adapted by interface to a PC, so that students can monitor their operation, detect and maintain common anomalies. In 2017, the school undertook a comprehensive project to equip this laboratory with state-of-the-art technology, given the identified needs for highly qualified human resources in the refrigeration and air conditioning industries. …
